Mahdi Ali

Mahdi Ali was born in a Kenyan Refugee Camp in the early 1990s. He was brought to the United States by family friends at age 9 and ultimately abandoned which forced him into foster care, group homes, and sometimes onto the streets. Mahdi was able to learn English and learn how to survive on the streets. He was accused of a triple homicide in 2010 despite having a solid alibi and the fact that Minneapolis Police already had a leading suspect in the case. The original suspect in the case bragged about the killings in school and online via Twitter, but with the help of his cousin was able to blame and frame Mahdi for the killings. Mahdi has been incarcerated since 2010 and has now spent over half of his life behind bars in Minnesota for crimes he did not commit.
